It is a beautiful day in southwest Montana with a high near 71 and winds at 3 mph cant get much better than that!! The Big Hole river is at a perfect 2240 cfs at maiden rock the fishing is outstanding. We are seeing small numbers of salmon flies and some fish are looking up for them, nymphing stones and small mayfly stuff or stripping a zonker under a bobber are your best options to catch trout there. The Beaver head on the other hand is at a good flow, coming out of the Dam at 629 cfs. We are seeing small numbers of pmd's and few caddis, nymphs like a Barrs emerger or sow bug are catching most of our fish. Lastly, the Ruby River is coming out of the Dam at 388 cfs as of this Morning, water is a little off color but stripping dark streamers is [...]
The weather in Twin Bridges today is fantastic! Water temps are back on the rise after the rough cold snap we had over the weekend and the fish are liking it!! flows are looking good too with many of our rivers dropping quickly, like the Big Hole river which has dropped all of 1500 cfs to a beautiful 2850 cfs, and the Beaver head river is coming out of the Dam at 654 cfs and is pretty clean above Grasshopper creek. The Ruby river is slowly dropping and is currently at 480 cfs. Fish are being caught all over the place so go somewhere you haven't been before, and make sure you grab some bear spray. Don't forget bug spray eats fly line so keep the
Today is looking to be a fantastic day in Southwest Montana with a high of 68 degrees and sunny it cant get much better! We have actually seen the rivers drop in flows following this rain and cold weather, The Big Hole in Melrose has dropped from 4300 cfs to approximately 3700 cfs and is fishing so good as of now, you cant miss out! Hopefully the salmon flies should be here within the next 72 hours! The Beaver head on the other hand is coming out of the Dam at 675 cfs and is fishing well with nymphs. The ruby is still running high out of the Dam at 560 cfs but it is coming down and fish are definitely being caught. Make sure you practice casting your rod before you come out for your trip, it will help you to catch more fish!! Cheers
It's raining a little bit in Twin Bridges today but fishing can be really good when its raining!! Flows are coming up a little bit following the rain but the Big Hole is at just under 3000 cfs and is fishing GREAT, The Beaver head river is a little higher than yesterday at 695 which is almost above the banks in some spots, water clarity in town here is <12 inches and the ruby is still high at about 580 cfs, but fish are eating in there. Both today and tomorrow look like a great day to strip streamers with the cloud cover and rain, if they don't eat a zonker under a bobber throw a big rubber legs (size 4-6) in any color. The salmon flies should be flying within the next 5 days hopefully, we are just counting down the minutes at this point!!
Fishing is outstanding as of right now, Flows are great and fish are happy! Our guide Ty Smith with Steve landed the massive fish pictured yesterday on the Big Hole river, what a fish! Speaking of the Big Hole, it is flowing at just over 1600 cfs at Mudd creek, the beav is also in great shape coming out of the Dam at 665 which is about 70 cfs higher than what it has been at for the past couple weeks. The ruby is still flowing high and fast just under 600 cfs but you can definitely find fish! Pats rubber legs are working well along with psycho mays and worms, but the fish are being picky right now so change often until you crack the code! Keep your eyes out for the big bugs they are going to pop off anytime, make sure you're here when that happens! Cheers!! [...]
Just another beautiful day in Twin Bridges, Montana!! Weather looks amazing and our rivers are flowing at great levels, the Big Hole in Melrose at about 4300 cfs and has leveled out a bit. Next up, the Beaver head river is coming out of the Dam at just under 600 cfs but below grasshopper creek is pretty high and dirty. Lastly, the Ruby is still pretty high at 550 and gaining water but fishing is GREAT all around. Lots of good reports from the guides yesterday, even the Madison, we are fishing all the rivers we have and couldn't be happier!
It is a Beautiful day in Twin Bridges and it looks like it's going to be a hot one, sunny with a high of 80 degrees! The fishing is pretty good right now, the rivers haven't blown out completely just yet. The Big Hole river is flowing at a beautiful 4,090 cfs, and the Beaver head river is coming out of the Dam at 531 cfs, that's pretty good if you ask me! The Ruby river is trending up in flows at but is currently flowing at about 520 cfs. Rooster anticipates Salmon flies and the big bugs within the next 48 hours (weather dependent). The forecast for the next few days is pretty warm (low 80's) until Friday when it will cool down to about 50 for a few days then back to the warmth! Don't forget sunscreen, especially when you're in a drift boat you'll burn quick out [...]
It's finally June in Twin Bridges, but the mosquitoes are back... Fishing has been surprisingly good these past few days, and weather looks great for this following week. Our rivers are definitely seeing the effects of run off but very slowly, water clarity is a little lacking on the Ruby but the Jefferson, Big Hole, and Beaver head river are in pretty good shape in terms of water clarity. The rivers are fluctuating a bit day to day because of run off but the Beaver head is coming steadily out of the Dam at 511 cfs, The Big Hole is rising slowly and at Maiden Rock and it is flowing at approximately 4100 cfs, Charlie mentioned he loves to fish these flows! The Ruby is quite high at 500 and is kind of scary to wade in my opinion but fish are catchable on flashy dark streamers. Twitching buggers and worms [...]
Its a little chilly this Morning in Twin Bridges, with a little rain in the forecast today should be a great day to do some fishing if the Wind doesn't pick up here!! The Big Hole is at about 3100 cfs and fishing is much better in the morning and slows down around 14:00. The Beaver head is on fire as of right now, flowing 314 cfs out of the Dam. The Ruby river is slowly gaining water with flows at 318. The weather for this week looks fantastic after Tuesday when the wind dies down. Don't forget to tell someone where you're going before you head out!!!
We had a great time on the Beaverhead the other day! Charlie and Tracey helped to put me on my first Montana trout! The fishing was excellent and the bite was consistent throughout the day. I had a fantastic time and am looking forward to continuing to work and explore this awesome area of Montana while having the opportunity to meet all of our awesome guests! -Jeff
